The vital mushroom Agaricus - a real "sun mushroom
The Agaricus blazei murrill (ABM), also called sun mushroom, live mushroom or almond mushroom, originally comes from Brazil and is a tasty edible mushroom from the mushroom genus. Its name "almond mushroom" refers to its almond-like smell.
The sun mushroom is one of the vital mushrooms with the most recent history of use. While other vital mushrooms often have a long tradition as edible or medicinal mushrooms (in Traditional Chinese Medicine), Agaricus blazei murril was probably used much later. In the middle of the last century, it is said to have attracted attention in a certain district in Brazil where particularly few people suffered from old-age ailments. As it later turned out, ABM was particularly regularly on the menu of the people in this region, which thus moved into the interest.
Agaricus is particularly interesting because of its high polysaccharide content (including beta glucan such as beta D-glucan) - next to maitake it has the highest content of all known vital mushrooms. In particular, the sun fungus, like the maitake, contains the valued beta-D-glucan!
